How Much Does Car Detailing Cost in Florida? (2026 Price Guide)
GetAutoDetailing earns money from detailers who buy paid plans. Paid listings are labeled as such. How we list and rank: About.

| Paint correction (polishing) | $350 – $749 (median $450) | Machine polish to reduce swirls; quoted separately from a detail |

Source for the Florida rows: prices advertised on Florida detailers’ websites, read in September 2026. Fewer Florida detailers publish a price for paint correction than for a full detail, so treat that row as less firm. National advertised medians are higher: about $200 for an interior detail and about $260 for a full detail.
Why some cost guides show lower numbers
Consumer cost guides that average quotes for every kind of package, including basic washes and vacuum-only jobs, show lower figures than the advertised full-detail range above. In October 2026, one such guide put the typical price at roughly $135 to $155 in Florida’s large cities (with low-to-high spreads of about $70 to $250) and at about $175 nationally. That gap may mean those averages include basic packages that are not a thorough interior-and-exterior detail. Use the advertised full-detail range to judge a full detail and the consumer-guide figures to judge a basic package. Compare scope, not just price.
How many detailers can you compare in each city?

What changes the price of a detail
Vehicle size. Advertised full-detail prices climb with the vehicle. National advertised medians are about $250 for sedans and coupes, $280 for SUVs and crossovers, and $300 for trucks and large SUVs (September 2026). Home-services cost guides list anything from about $50 for a small car’s basic package to $500 or more for large trucks and three-row SUVs, though ranges like that mix basic washes with full details.
Condition. Pet hair, heavy stains, odors, sap and baked-on bugs add labor. A consumer cost guide (October 2026) gives rough add-on figures: odor removal about $75, carpet steam cleaning from about $75, leather cleaning about $50, and a clay bar treatment $15-$30.
Paint work. The same consumer guide puts a full polish and buff at roughly $200-$300 on top of the detail. If your clear coat is hazy, ask about paint correction before you pay for wax on top of damaged paint.
Protection. A spray sealant or wax add-on costs tens of dollars; $50-$100 is typical for a sealant or “ceramic” add-on in a detailing package. That is a different product from a professional ceramic coating installed over prepared paint at $599 and up.
Where the work happens. Mobile detailers cover fuel and drive time, so quotes can match or exceed shop prices. See mobile detailing prices in Florida.
Time of year. Slow seasons can bring better prices. In Florida that is a local judgment call, so ask the detailer when their calendar is lighter.
The Florida factors that raise or lower the quote
- Sun and UV. The EPA’s UV Index guide (EPA, 2004) lists Miami at 10-11 (very high to extreme) in summer, versus 4 in winter. Oxidized clear coat, faded trim and cracked dashboards are common reasons Florida cars need more than a wash, and sun-damaged paint may take more labor to correct.
- Salt air. Cars parked near the coast collect salt film on paint, wheels and under the body. Detailers may charge more to decontaminate wheels, wheel wells and trim on a car that has not been cleaned in months. AAA’s road-salt guidance, written for winter driving, recommends regular washing and an undercarriage spray; ocean air is a lower-level but constant exposure.
- Lovebugs. UF/IFAS says to remove lovebug remains within about 24 hours, soaking first and then washing gently, and that waxed paint cleans up more easily. Residue left to bake in the sun can damage the paint when it is removed, and then the cleanup becomes a paint-correction job. Swarms come for a few weeks in April-May and August-September.
- Hurricanes and flood cars. Detailing cannot repair flood damage, and a deep interior clean can hide the warning signs of a flooded used car. Before you buy a used car in Florida, check the title brand and run a VIN history, as the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) flood advisory suggests. After a storm, expect flood-water cleanup to be quoted as restoration work, not a standard detail.
- Humidity. A closed, parked car in Florida can grow musty fast. Interior jobs with extraction and odor treatment cost more than a vacuum-and-wipe package.
- Snowbird season. Part-time residents return in winter and spring, and many detailers book up. Ask for a date and a written scope instead of assuming same-week availability.
How to compare quotes
“Full detail” is a package name, not a standard. Ask each detailer:
- What is included in the price, and what is extra (pet hair, heavy stains, odor, engine bay)?
- Is the wax or sealant a spray, a paste, or a coating, and how long is it meant to last?
- Will they inspect the paint first and tell you if polishing is advisable?
- Is travel included if they come to you?
- Do they carry liability insurance for your vehicle? Ask for proof if the car is valuable.
Send every detailer the same photos and vehicle details. A quote that says only “detail” is not comparable to one that lists tasks.
When a detail is not enough
A detail cleans and protects. It does not remove scratches that you can feel with a fingernail, rock chips, or failed clear coat. If paint is the issue, see paint correction costs. If you want long-term protection, compare ceramic coating and paint protection film prices, and read whether ceramic coating is worth it in Florida. If heat inside the car is the problem, check the limits in our Florida window tint law guide before you buy film.
Frequently asked questions
How much does auto detailing typically cost?
A consumer cost guide (October 2026) puts the typical price at about $175 nationally and roughly $135 to $155 in Florida’s large cities, counting basic packages. For a full interior-and-exterior detail, the advertised Florida median is $205 (September 2026).
How much should a full detail be?
For a sedan in Florida, plan on about $150-$300 for a real interior-and-exterior detail. SUVs and trucks cost more. A price far below $100 may mean a basic wash-and-vacuum package.
What is mobile car detailing?
A detailer brings water, power and equipment to your home or office and works on site. It costs about the same as a shop detail or slightly more because of travel. Our mobile detailing price guide has the ranges.
What is the average cost to polish a car?
The consumer cost guide lists roughly $200-$300 for a full polish and buff on top of a detail. Advertised paint-correction prices in Florida are $350-$749, with a median of $450 (September 2026). Heavily damaged paint costs more.
How often should I polish my car?
Only when the paint needs it. Polishing is abrasive: it removes a thin layer of clear coat to reduce swirls. Routine protection, such as wax or sealant, is the recurring step. Ask a detailer to inspect the paint before polishing.
